As a former New Yorker now working abroad I'm travelling home to see my relatives every couple of months and always rent from Alamo at JFK. This last time I had my cousine picking me up at the airport so I thought I'll save some time and will rent my car close to our apartment in Greenwich Village. Ooops, that wasn't a good idea! I'm apparently used to a different standard in car rentals at major international airports and as a consequence I found the service at this Alamo branch as substandard. First, I was waiting, and I mean WAITING for some 40 minutes just to get my car. The same story at the drop off, it was actually even worse as this was a peak hour and several people wanted to return their vehicles to the happless attendant that was apparently new (or poorly trained). When I was picking my car they tried to give me another vehicle, apparently by mistake...

My car was OK, no visible dirt or technical problems and quite new if not really brand new - but you don't expect this from a car rental company. Interestingly, the price was slightly lower than what I usually pay at JFK but that was small satisfaction for the hassle...
