I got a good price for midseason from Solmar. Does someone have an experience with this company? I would also like to know whether the local car hires in general offer comparable service to the established international chains

Well, it can be said that all the car hires in Alicante (and this is true for all of Spain) are pretty similar. At least the large companies. So the answer is: if you got a good quote from Solmar, just go for it.
