We read many customer reviews and tried our luck with several wholesale websites before renting a car in Orlando directly through the Avis website. One reason was that as far as I know the treatment you get as their direct customer is significantly better than if you come through Priceline &Co. I have to mention our party was not a small one: me and my wife, her 70 years-old mother and our son. Still, I thought a full-size vehicle will be just fine. Not so, the attendant told me. Sir, I strongly advise you to upgrade to a mini-wagon size with all the luggage. I didn’t think so and told him plainly I’m not interested in any type of upgrade (his offer was $5/day). This was something we decided to be particular about as we both hate the hard-sell tactics of some car rentals. Anyway, to make the long story short, the guy was right. I tried for 20 minutes to fit everything in the car (the man at the parking garage just shaking his head in disbelief) and then had to embarrass myself and come back to the counter. Well, I was apparently expected there but there was no “I told you so” or even a grin on the attendant’s face. He was very kind and upgraded me to the mini-wagon which proved to be just perfect for our needs. The pick-up and drop-off were very efficient and we were very satisfied with Avis.
