Booked Budget car on-line incuding the options that I required.  When I arrived the price from the on-line quote varied greatly from the total amount on the contract.  I reviewed each line item on the contract against my online quote.  Each item seemed to be the same but it didn't add up to be the same total. I questioned the amounts and the Budget employee was rude.  I stayed calm and patient to work out what the difference was.  Finally, the sales person said that the insurance included a waiver that cost an extra $15 a day that was not listed anywhere on the contract and another tax that was not included on the contract.  I was then presented a contract with exactly the same amounts and options except the total was now different from the first contract. 

I returned the car and wanted my rental charged In US Dollars to my US dollar Travel Mastercard instead of AUD Visa card.  No problem I was told.  What they actually charged me was the US amount converted using thier rate into AUD then converted back to USD and slugged with a $30 USD conversion fee that added an extra USD100 to the total.  When I went back to the Budget the staff, they said it had nothing to do with them and refussed to even look.  Unfortunately, I made the mistake of renting another car from them before I discovered this.  When I returned they told me that they could not except my Mastercard Travel Card that I had used everywhere in the states with no problem.  I refused to pay with anything else so the employee went to check with the supervisor that took 20 minutes and then they excepted my card telling me I was lucky.  I asked to speak with the supervisor and was told they were too busy.

I understand this is not just Budget but the norm for US car rental companies.  One thing is for sure is I will never use budget again and I will let as many people as possible not to use them>
