Driving and Speed Limits in Lanzarote
Driving and Speed Limits in Lanzarote
Drivers at Canary Islands in general and at Lanzarote in particular are less disciplined than in mainland Spain. Lanzarote has a high rate of car accidents: be careful when driving as the local drivers may stop or take an unexpected turn without prior indication.
Parking in Lanzarote is prohibited on yellow and white lines but this is largely ignored by local drivers (in fact, parking on zebras is not uncommon). Blue line indicated Pay and Display area.
It is often hard to find a parking place in Arrecife, Puerto Del Carmen, or Playa Blanca. Situation is better out of busiest resorts.
Although there are no roads with more than two lanes, traffic jams are not an issue at Lanzarote and unlike in most large cities a car is the most convenient means of traffic.
