Driving and Speed Limits in Prague

Driving and Speed Limits in Prague

Traffic in Prague is manageable, although the rush-hour congestions are annoying. It is also hard to escape the traffic jams during the migration of city dwellers to countryside and back on Fridays and Sundays afternoons/evenings.

However, the problem to get somewhere in Prague is small comparing to that of actually finding a parking lot there. Many parts of Prague (notably Prague 1, Prague 7 and Prague 2) introduced the blue ribbon scheme: in places designated by the blue line (read everywhere) you are not allowed to park unless you hold a special permit of local resident. This makes even visiting one's friend living in other part of the city a dilemma between illegal parking and using the public transport.

Multi-storey car parks are concentrated in the city center.

The road quality is mostly good but be prepared that large part of roads in Prague is paved with cobble stone very typical for this city.
