Just returned from Alicante having rented from Goldcar for a 4 day period. On arrival I was told I had to pay for a full tank @ 77euros. We were allocated a Fiat Punto Grande which has a 45litre tank. This equates to 1.70euros per litre. I complained about the price but was told this was company policy. I asked if I would be refunded for the fuel I didn't use. No - another company policy. Then I was told the car was a diesel. This infuriated me even more as they new I had a 4 day rental but insisted on filling the tank, charging me the earth for fuel and they new I couldn't have possibly used a full tank of diesel without driving the car all day everyday of my stay. When I returned the car I handed it back with thetank still 3/4 full. I asked again for a refund and was told no again. I asked if there was anyone I could complain too and was referred to a customer services email address. Not dealing with customer complaints face to face is another company policy. I've since written to this email address and got a reply saying to lodge a claim on their website. I've tried to do this over two days now and the website won't accept my claim. If you want to be ripped off and recieve diabolical customer service then Goldcar is for you. If not just avoid the bastards!
