Searched moneysupermarket.com for car hire for one week in Spain Alicante airport. Hired a car through a company called mycarhire.co.uk which seemed a good deal.  Turned out that the hire company was Goldcar, on arrival they stated that I had to pay for a full tank of fuel costing 68 Euros, what a rip off!! The tank was only about 45 litres and I only used 1/3 of a tank all week.  After reading some of the comments on the web about Goldcar, I know I should have done it before, I discovered that a lot of people have found that they have been charged excessive amounts on their return for missing seats, spare wheels, damage etc. My advice is DO NOT USE ANY OF THE CHEAPEST CAR HIRE COMPANIES they are all using the same rip off tactics.  Read the terms and conditions and if you have booked already after you’ve picked up the car report your credit card lost so they cannot add extra charges.
