Most companies in Alicante airport charge fuel fees. But this one is the most expensive and excessive. We travel to Alicante about every six weeks and I usually use Auriga Crown. But I have used a number of others like Solmar and Centauro with no difficulties. In May we hired a car from Dickmanns which broke down in the village where we stay in Valencia. They couldn't have been more helpful and had a new car with us from Valencia within the hour of it being reported.  Unfortunately we had to book through another broker in July as demand had outstripped economycarhire availablity and we ended up with Goldcar through Carhire3000. Never have I experienced such rude pressure sale staff. They basically told us that if we broke down it was our problem. They really didnt want to hear that we had private excess insurance. They charged us about 1/3rd more for petrol than we have ever paid. The young lady told us very angrily that we would have to pay if anything happened. Thankfully nothing did and we returned the car empty. However returning the car was just as difficult with rude staff once again but this time I got just as angry back.

My advice would be to use anybody else....... at Alicante airport you have a great choice of hire companies and as long as you expect to have to pay for an full tank you may not want or use you will be fine.......... but avoid Goldcar.
