I wish I had visited this site first before using Goldcar and so as to better understand what can only be described as a scam, you pay for a tank of fuel, and you bring it back as empty as possible - the reverse process to what many are accustomed to. This could be fine, but charging €75 for a tank of fuel on a Seat Leon TDi is questionable to say the least - after questioning where the fuel was purchased to result in such an excessive cost I was told that it included airport tax - I questioned as to whether it was aviation grade fuel then. A quick reference to a pre-prepared highlighted paragraph in the T&Cs which you'd need the Hubble telescope to read lead me to believe it's questioned on a regular basis.

After locating the car easily enough on my own although quite clean on the inside it had the appearance of a very unloved car with many scratches, dents and nicks to door edges and bumpers. There is no joint inspection with a car rental representative.

A quick walk back to the desk - concerned over potential costs for returning a damaged car - and I was told 'you've paid for the insurance it doesn't matter if you bring it back with more damage' - a comical response as there's a flyer in the car asking you to 'treat the car as if it were your own', no damp beach towels etc. a little demolition derby no problem, but definitely no beach towels.

I would advise you to avoid Goldcar - i didn't even choose Goldcar (they are the agent which Easycar uses) - With the fuel included it would have been more effective to use taxis for the duration of the holiday as in total only 165KM was driven - this wasn't Goldcar's fault - i could have driven more - but knowing their scheme fully now results in never using them again and warning any other potential customers to avoid.
