May 2010 we rented a car through e-autohuur.nl (Dutch part of Travel Jigsaw) from Goldcar car rental at Girona airport. We were lucky to get a brand new car, a Berlingo as was requested. However, there were some things I would like to warn others about:

1) Goldcar charges for a full tank of fuel. You can hand in the car with an empty tank. For short term rentals you can get some of the fuel money back I believe. However, this is not a very practical arrangement and the worst is that they charge much more for a tank than you would pay at a gas station, in our case they overcharged us for 27 euro (94 euro for a tank of diesel, whereas we paid about 67 for a full tank at the gas station).

2) In our contract with Travel Jigsaw it was stated explicitely that an extra driver was included in the paid sum. However, at the airport we had to pay an additional 25 euro for this. The Goldcar guy simply said that this statement on our voucher was not valid and that this happened all the time. At that time we had waited quiet some time already for the car and we were anxious to get going, so we did not argue too long about it. Maybe if we had contacted Travel Jigsaw at that time the matter would have be solved immediately.

3) When we handed in the car no inspection was made of the car in our presence. We would have had to wait for that 30 minutes, which was not possible for us at that time. As we already felt rather cheated by this firm we were afraid we would be confronted with false dammage claims. Luckily, this did not happen.

We complained about all this with Tavel Jigsaw after our vacation. They contacted Goldcar but made clear to us that they could do no more, as they had informed us about the fuel policy (but not the ureasonable prices!) and we had made a contract with Goldcar for the additional driver. Despite this disencouraging reaction of Travel Jigsaw, Goldcar gave us a refund of 38 euro.  In the end we were satisfied with this refund, but I am not sure I would use Travel Jigsaw or Gold Car again.
