We rented a midsize car for the weekend from the Hertz hotel location in city center Kyiv. Service was friendly but incredibly slow. It took over a half hour to fill out all of the forms (I signed seven forms!) and secure the car. I asked for a map to help get us out of the city since Hertz in other locations I've rented from usually provide this free of charge as you come in to pick up the car. They had only maps available in Russian - which I still took! The price and quality of the car were fine, no problems. The most frustrating part of renting from Hertz in Ukraine was trying to return the car at Borispol airport. There are absolutely no clearly visible signs as to where the rental car return is. Fortunately I had asked the hotel Hertz representative where we picked up the car which number should I call in case of an emergency. When from Borispol I called the two numbers she gave me for Borispol Hertz office and her office at the hotel there was no answer at either number the three times I called in the first few minutes. After I circled around the parking lot in front of Terminal B and caught a glimpse of a little 'Sixt' sign at the parking spots in one of the small lots to the right of Terminal B (which you cannot enter through the gate, without getting a ticket) I finally got a hold of someone on the phone and insisted they come out to show me where to return the car because I was in a hurry.

Fortunately I had my mobile phone to reach the office to find out where to park. Otherwise I would have had to park the car, go in to the airport and risk being very late for my flight!

Its ridiculous that there are no car rental signs. If they are, they were only in Ukranian or Russian and I could see no logos for the usual rental companies Hertz, Avis, Sixt, etc.

Normally I am happy with Hertz but I feel as an international company their standards should be up to par in every country with an office and service could have been better, more efficient, easier to return a car to Hertz at the airport.
