Being a frequent business traveler, I developed a habit of renting cars at Hertz. I often fly to Europe and Asia on my business trips and in most cases I had no reason to complain about Hertz' services (well, I do recall one moment several years ago when I found myself waiting for 90 minutes at their counter, but that was an exception). Being a busy person, I seldom fly with my family. This summer, my youngest daughter was 10 years old and we organized a trip for her including Hollywood and several other "cool" places arounf Los Angeles (we are from East Coast). Having arrived at LAX, I authomatically went to the Hertz premises to pick our SUV. Everything was perfect, ready for us (even with running AC). On the second day we spoke to another family staying in our hotel and found out they also rented the very same car at LAX, but from another company - and for half the price! You can imagine I was in shock. Until now I had no reason to follow the prices as my company was covering the bill and I also get free miles for mileage at Hertz. But this was a two-week rental and the difference was really big, out of my pocket. I suggest you always compare the prices before you rent. Except for this issue, the vehicle was almost new and customer service above average.
