A piece of advice to anyone considering to rent a car in London: get a GPS navigation! Left hand drive is confusing enough to keep you concentrated on driving properly and the traffic is busy and rather complex. We didn't even consider renting at the airport as you can get easily from Heathrow to the any part of the city but as we planned for several trips out of London, we rented - oh, hired - a vehicle from National in Finchley, where we were staying.

It took some time until our car was ready but that was nothing like the queues at the international airports we were used to. The vehicle was clean and almost new, a small compact car that is best for European traffic. Upon returning the car, we were the only customers present (although they had several phone calls in between). Overall a good experience.
