My wife and me arrived to Rochester airport (ROC) in the afternoon on flight from New York. We have picked up our luggage and went to National car rental counter.

There were almost no other people - we waited about 5 minutes. We were offered upgrade to Volvo XC 70 for about $13 per day, which we accepted, as we have this car at home and it's really great car to drive! The car rental representative did not press us for the upgrade, it was easy to say no.

As we had all inclusive insurance with zero deductible, they just tried to sell us Personal Accident Insurance and Roadside Plus assistance - which we declined - again no problem, they have explained the advantages of those insurances, but we did not find it necessary, as we had our own Personal insurance already and Volvo cars are almost unbreakable, so we felt we don't need the extra Road Assistance.

I went several times over the contract incl. the small print - I think I drove the clerk crazy, as I asked for every small thing I did not understand in the contract - all seemed OK, except insurance limits stated in the contract we had to sign and contract which was a part of this signed paper - they just contradicted each other - one said $25.000 and the second said $100.000 (if I remember well) - I marked this in the contract - as we had also our extra insurance, I did not care so much, as our limits on that insurance were much higher, so we were covered anyway... Our extra insurance, which we bought from private insurance company even included windshield, tires, lost keys and undercarriage of the car (I don't like surprises in car rental, so I rather spend a little extra to feel safe)

So, finally - we have signed our papers, got our keys and GPS (GPS was a part of our deal - which was also inclusive of full tank of fuel) and went to pick up our car to the parking garage - just few steps from the arrival hall.

We have found our car quite quickly - it was brand new Volvo - quite expensive car - so I wanted to make sure there are no scratches or broken windows (even small damages to the windows are paid by you... we were covered by our insurance, but I did not want to deal with my insurance company, as it takes quite a lot of paper work...) - it took about 30 minutes to check the car from inside out - we took many pictures of the car, as we found little scratches from Car Wash in the color. Otherwise the car was in perfect condition and we have enjoyed it very much in Rochester.

We would like to thank to the National car rental staff at the Rochester airport, NY - all went smooth, that staff was professional and the car perfect!

I think I gave them hard time during the car rental pick up - with the contract and with inspecting the car, but I feel this is very important to check everything before you take the car - so sorry it took a little longer :-)
