Thrifty (and possibly others) have snuck in yet another hidden fee for Roadside Assistance.  It's not mentioned when you rent the vehicle, but in reviewing the charges at the time of return, I noticed a $4.95/day charge that I did not agree to (or so I thought).  The person checking me in said that charge was on all vehicles unless you specifically tell them you don't want it.  Talks about a catch-22!!  At least they have to ask you about insurance.

I have AAA and don't need to pay for additional roadside assistance.  If I hadn't been in a hurry and there hadn't been 5 or 6 people at the rental desk I would have tried to get the charge removed.

So, even if you are in a hurry when renting the car, it might be a good idea to look over the rental form to make sure you aren't agreeing to charges for so called services you don't want or need.
