Toronto Car Rental

Given the huge size of Toronto suburban sprawl, car rental is a reasonable decision. Renting a car in Toronto is an easy procedure and car hire agencies are present both at the airport and in various down-town locations (including major hotels). Car hire is the option especially if you want to travel out of town and you won't be staying in the centre during all your stay.

Car Hire Toronto - Niagara - Montreal

Robert Snedden

Have car reserved from Eaton Centre on 19th July, I intend travelling from Toronto to Niagra then onwards to Montreal. Can you please advise if there are any restrictions with respect to the hire car that would not allow me to drive from Niagra to Montrteal on the U.S. side of the lake.

I think it should be possible, but if you want to go from Canada to USA with the rented car, make sure you have permission (written) from the car rental company, as it can be against the car rental policy to take the car out of Canada. If you have car from Canadian car rental company and you got the permit from them, then you should be OK to take the car to USA and then back to Canada. But definitely ask the car rental company for their policy - each car rental company can have different rules.

Can you rent a car in Toronto and drop off in Ohio?

Hi Jack, yes, it should be possible to rent a car in Toronto and go to Ohio (for example to Cincinnati) - I have checked with Hertz and they offer such rentals. You have to inform the car rental counter during the pick up, that you want to go to USA and to leave the car there - you will need your car rental agreement at the border to get special Pass from the Border clerks.

There are also other Toronto car rentals offering such services.
